Monica I. Salis grew up in New York City and attended New York University (NYU) in New York, New York. While at NYU, Ms. Salis was awarded the New York University Founder’s Day Award for Outstanding Scholarship. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1979.

Ms. Salis received a scholarship to the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida, and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in 1982. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1982, to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 1983, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1989. She was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1999.
